ABGA’s Statement on USITC Publication 5164
WASHINGTON, March 30, 2021 – The American Blueberry Growers Alliance (ABGA) released the following statement regarding the ITC’s report on its global safeguard investigation into imports of fresh, chilled or frozen blueberries under Section 201 of the Trade Act of 1974:
“The American Blueberry Growers Alliance (ABGA) continues to be disappointed with the outcome of the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC)’s 201 investigation. The reality for American blueberry farmers is that foreign imports targeting the U.S. blueberry market have had a devastating impact on the domestic blueberry market – causing great hardship for family-owned farm operations.
Blueberry farmers across the country are calling on the Executive Branch and Congress to use all trade and legislative remedies to support a level playing field for American farmers – one in which lower labor costs and more lax environmental standards in other countries does not drive our domestic growers out of business.”
